Plans For 2024

4 min read

Some plans for 2024. Not exactly new years resolutions, because they are goals that I have been chewing vigorously on for the last year. A lot had happened in 2023, and the wave of A.I. scraping theft a couple month before 2023’s new year sent me through a new level of anxiety that ruined all art-related plans that I had.

I want this year to be different. I don’t want the vile things that happened in my personal life to ruin what yearning I have left for what I want for myself. 2023 was the third anniversary of my mother’s premature death to cancer. It was already hard enough, but family decided to do things that had renewed that grief and my already damaged self-worth to boot (I won’t get into that though. I won’t let in taint what remains of my sunshine.)

In 2022, before A.I. struck, I had originally planned on picking up a product that I had lost some progress on when my first iPad went down. I’m still holding onto hope that something can be recovered, but I no longer want to wait. The project, whom for now I’ll call Flutrinia (still have a little anxiety on dropping the official name), is something that I had started as a fanfic back in 2018 on my birthday. I had set it down for a while due to stress, but there had be something lurking in the misty woods at the edge of my mind. In March 2019, that figure had finally emerged and Flutrinia burst through the floodgates. It was a fun little writing project that became my only escape from grief when my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 intrahepatic cholangiocarinoma and passed 9 months later (it was a f*cked up situation that could have had a completely different outcome. My family is still p*ssed and hurting from it, but this is a story I don’t have it in me to tell again so soon.)

Anyway, between then and now, Flutrinia had developed into a world of its own. Ecosystems, culture, history, mythology, international relations between people. A society structure that found itself so woven together between nature and man, that it is constantly misunderstood by those looking in from the window outside. A structure that even those raised within struggle to comprehend how vital their existence depends on the relationship that birthed their home.

I want to explore this world seriously, so this year I plan on fleshing out a tale that takes place completely outside of the original fanfic and dives into a original place with thousands of years of history behind it. I already have the main characters planned and designed. Last year, I improved my anatomy drawing, so this year’s plans are:

1. Learn blender and build the city the story will take place in. I plan on using the final project as an aid in creating the comic, since I, kinda, made the architecture unique and nothing like the premade cities on Acon3d (yeah, lovin’ it and at the same time wondering wth me). I am hoping to save time and energy through this so that I may have extra stamina for the main project.

2. Develop strategies to better deal with my anxiety of sharing my art online (only reason that I’m posting here is because I don’t think many will come here and see- plus, right now the stress from other pressing concerns has my anxiety and mental health elsewhere lololol)

3. With the help of 2, post my art again.

4. Personally, I want to draw mini comics of the characters and some Dragonbond play (it’s a dnd-like game I found on instagram and supported. I am excited to try it out even if it’s just solo me. I need something more to cook this storytelling fire my mine, darn it!…..And maybe get brave enough to try some rpg groups again!!)

5. And of course, finally give my creative passion an outlet for a change!!! >:D

So yeah, just posting this for myself in my dusty, secluded corner of the web. These are goals and here’s to the year of the dragon being the year the world takes down its obstacles and set fire to brighter future despite the horrors left over from 2023!

(The rabbit opened our eyes and showed what is harming us. May the dragon teach us how to break away from this pain and blossom from it!)

Hi, guys! Do to Deviantart's new announcement, I will be deleting my art (or what little I've posted here). My account will remain, but I am not comfortable with the fact my art will potentially be used without my permission or that of others. Especially since we are being forced into this with the automatic opt-in and being deliberately forced into complicated hoops in order to manually opt-out.

The fact that any links to other site profiles will be included in this is especially concerning....

I just want to thank everyone who are on the frontlines of Health Services. Whether you are working in a hospital, clinic, rehabilitation, lifelong care, hospice, or another form of care, thank you for staying and putting everything you got into helping others get better or keeping them healthy.

It helps knowing you are there. It helps knowing our loved ones are being cared for so diligently and with such brave compassion. It helps knowing that for those who are facing their final days unrelated to COVID-19, there are people willing to go the extra step to make sure it continues to be as comfortable as possible. It helps knowing our elderly relatives are being watched over and protected as much as possible. To know that nursing staff and doctors are still there for those who need them in the hospitals because your body doesn’t care if a pandemic is happening when it breaks down. Because F*cking cancer and other serious illnesses don’t give a damn if treatment stops because the healthcare system is strained.

Seriously. THANK YOU. It means the world and heaven knowing you are there. And I cannot express enough my gratitude for all you do.
